It Finally Happened

After eleven years of drinking and using computers I finally did it, I spilled a beer on my laptop, I was due I admit it.

Luckily it was my first beer and I had the sense to pull the battery and now, my laptop is safely drying out in the corner, though this means I've pulled the G4 eMac out of retirement and after 30 minutes of update applying, and discovering some funny old ass files. All is good, until I can let the laptop dry out properly.

G4 'tll the end.

Government Accountability Office?

When I see a head line like this Senate caves, votes to give telecoms retroactive immunity

I am angered beyond, beyond, beyond belief.

When there is a call from the current administration to move noninherent government positions to contractors, when there is a call from the current administration to make the government run more like a corporation, when there is a call from the current administration to have measurable business objectives, when the current administration passes Sarbanes Oxley to help hold corporations responsible, I stand exasperated that this same administration will tell congress that they won't sign a bill without immunity for companies that may have broken the law.

Though since what I have seen from the Republicans in general and certainly this administration is that the rules, let alone accountability, is something that only applies to everyone else, I shouldn't be surprised.

Based on all of the oxymoronic names given to programs by this administration, I propose that this bill be referred to as the "Hold Illegal Spying Responsible Act"

Update: The House wasn't a bunch of fools and they didn't pass it!!!!

Maturity is Not in Me

I saw this line in a configuration file for Apache Tomcat:

className="org.apache.catalina.valves.RequestDumperValve"

And of course the first thing that came to my mind, after almost spitting coffee all over my screen, was "I hope that it is susceptible to an _overflow_"

Yes I am 32 and I still laugh at toilet humor.

Middle East Cable Breakage Conspiracies

A lot of people are talking about the 4 (and possibly 5) cable breakages in the Middle East and the general conspiracy is that the US government specifically the CIA are behind it. I call bullshit, first of they would have used much subtler ways, second of all this would hurt the NSA's ability to monitor it. You could make a case that it was cut to put in wiretaps but that is just silly they would have been far more quiet about it and as you know here in the US they don't have to cut wires to do it.
It does seem like a lot of wires though to all break at one time though and here is my theory I blame the JEWS, just kidding, I think it could actually be Muslim fundamentalists.

Why?

Almost all, if not all, Middle East countries have restrictions on the Internet and most also know they are fighting a loosing battle, you simply cannot block information on the Internet. At the same time, the Wikipedia has had to lock down the Mohammed page because Muslims are removing the pictures, depicting Mohammed is a violation of Shira Law. The easiest way to stop this is to just get rid of the Internet at home all together and if you can get some people blaming the US, even better.

This has Killed Productivity at the Office

I Never Sleep 'Cause Sleep is the Cousin of Death*

Not sure what it is I didn't even drink coffee late in the day, but sleeps avoids me, I tried to be in bed and sleeping by midnight, but no go, this did not occur until after 2 am. Then at 6:30 am (a mere 4 1/2 hours later) I was up again and unable to sleep.
