A "debate point" from creationists and maybe five year olds is "I didn't come from goo" (commonly referred to as goo-to-you) Now for a five year old I could see how this may prove confusing, but to an adult with anything beyond a high school education* I have one question for you.

*Abstinence only educated people possibly don't know about sperm and it's role in conception so I'll concede that they may not know how this "goo" is involved in making "teh babies"

Wanting to see how much I can challenge my MacBook Pro. I've decided to abuse diskutility
while it is rebuilding the RAID the my parallel's VM is currently running off. Additionally I'm making an image of a laptop mounted via Firewire and target disk mode that is being saved to a USB mounted drive. The best part is it still has "teh snappy"

I purchased a copy of the song "Pearly Gates" from iTunes this weekend and as always I made sure to purchase the explicit version because, well the non-explicit versions suck because they cut out words and you'd often miss a lot of the song. So you can imagine my surprise when certain words where mixed over (ala the reverse record sound) here is what was on iTunes version:

Notice I didn't get the clean version as the word fuck was still in it, they censored the lyrics that question god. What fucking bullshit, they don't the same to Kanye West in "Jesus Walks" What the fuck is that about?

After reading around online I discovered, that this was done by the record label and that Prodiy, the rapper, didn't fight it.

DC Dan Porn Challenge

I read today on CNN about 'Porn & Pancakes' fights X-rated addictions The founder of this group started xxxchurch.com which is incredibly disappointing as there is no clergy based porn, let alone any porn at all. What they do have though is an awesome tool called X3Watch in a nutshell this program will monitor your web surfing habits and when you hit "questionable sites" it will note them in a hidden folder and then will send a monthly email with the results to someone.
From this the DC Dan Porn Challenge has spawned.
The rules are simple.
Install the X3Watch software on your computer (Mac and Windows users only)
Set your "accountability partner" to an email address I've specifically created for this purpose challenge@dcdan.com
Try to view as much porn as possible, as often as possible. I'll will monitor the results for the most prolific porn viewer.
The winner, will receive satisfaction, anonymity (if desired) and possibly some DC Dan merchandise.
Bonus points are awarded for finding where the hidden folder is hidden and the diversity of visited sites. Any illegal porn, porn involving children or animals will immediately disqualify you and could have legal ramifications.
The winner will be arbitrarily decided by me, based on the variety of sites, frequency of visits, bonus points and a whim.

I make no promises about the quality of the software from the xxxChurch site and assume no liability for anything for any reason as a result of this contest.

As an aside the "porn and pancakes" concept reminds me of the "smut and eggs" concept at a Bennet's in Madison, WI wherein they would show porn on the TVs whilst serving a delicious breakfast.

EMI Goes DRM Free (My Take)

The recent announcement of EMI that their iTunes music will be DRM is pretty cool here are two things of note that I haven't heard mentioned.
1) The 30 cent premium, is a "tax" for the potential piracy, it was a great PR move for them to offset this by offering higher quality files, thus making it a quality issue to gloss over this tax
2) People have complained that AAC isn't as open as they'd like. They are missing the fact iTunes has a convert to mp3 option for tracks that are DRM free.
