Rap Lyrics

This story is disturbing fantasy lyrics are now used as motive. If writings as motives were enough to add time Stephen King would be executed or serving a life sentence for a parking ticket if they looked at what was scribbled in his pockets. Also does this mean that people carrying "The Bible" will have those verses used against them?

DSL vs Cable vs DirectTV Broadband

This week my sister called me and asked DSL vs Cable vs DirectTV. This is my advice on it in first off the lag times on DirectTV are high so eliminate that choice. Now DSL vs Cable, this has been debated endlessly and both have their pros and cons, but my take on it is "If you have ask then it won't matter go for whatever is cheaper" I know that probably irks some, especially those lauding so virtues of one or the other, but from my experience they won't know or care. My girlfriend's connection is a prime example of this she has a wireless ISP, which I find painfully slow, but she only seems to care when downloading The Show and for her it certainly isn't worth the $60 _more_ a month I pay for my connection.

My Favorite Rap Lyrics of the Year

from here

Now homey if I go to hell and you make it to the pearly gates
Tell the boss man we got beef
And tell his only son I'm a see him when I see him
And when I see him, I'm a beat him like a movie
For leavin us out to dry on stariught poverty
For not showin me no signs they watchin over me
Yo! We a new breed in two thousand six
We don't give a fuck about that religious bullshit

Blood Money- Mobb Deep

A reference to The Passion "I'm a beat him like a movie" (classic) and nice way to counter the religious bullshit of Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West

What the Fuck

from CNN
"I also don't believe most Americans want us just to get out now," he said. "A lot of Americans understand the consequences of retreat. Retreat would embolden radicals. It would hurt the credibility of the United States." (Watch how not even children can escape the violence in Iraq )

However, the president said, he will not propose sending more troops to Iraq without a clear purpose.

"There's got to be a specific mission that can be accomplished with the addition of more troops before, you know, I agree on that strategy," he said.

What the fuck? "There's got to be a specific mission" There was a specific mission, that mission was to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction that could be launched at the US. We've been there, we couldn't find them, it does NOT look like they are there now and if they were the chaos that abounds pretty much assures they couldn't coordinate a operation to attack us. The only threat Iraq now poses to the people of the United States of America, is to the people who go over there.

Support the troops by bringing them home now.

End of the Year Round Up

This year had some interesting goings ons.
1) Celebrated the 31 like I was 21 in which debauchery abounded.
2) Techwise I convinced the lady friend (yes she's still around) to join the Apple club if she wanted to receive any tech support.
3) Made it another year without TV, thank you Netflix and book stores.
4) Realized that Parallels Desktop is probably best application I've played with yet.
5) Country realized the mistakes they made by voting for the GOP and gave me a bit of hope.
6) Started using the phrase "Fun crusher"
7) Found a new watering hole

Pizza Tweezers

I think someone (maybe me) should market pizza tweezers, that could used for removing things from your pizza that you don't like.

Flash Only Sites Suck

Flash only sites suck, they are hard to navigate and are really fucking annoying. For example I wanted to see if there videos on Lupe Fiasco's site from his new album Food & Liquor but after getting annoyed having to click too many times (and guessing at where click as well) I said fuck it and figured this would be a better way to find a Lupe Fiasco video and I was right.

New Watering Hole

Those who know me, also know that I frequent the Tune Inn on Penn Ave in DC. This is to announce that I have a new watering hole. The Key Hole which is the downstairs part of the 18th Amendment. They have great specials like $2 High Life bottles ALL OF THE TIME!!!! Wednesday is $5 bourbon night and there seems to be food specials every night. Their pizza is DC Dan Approved ©. If you stop by say hi to George or Sharkey and let them know DC Dan sent you.

X-Mas War

An interesting take on the "War on Christmas" I've read her book "Nickeled and Dimed" where in she tests to see how hard it is to "just work hard and you'll get ahead" and poverty is caused by "lazy people who just sit around and collect welfare" I have a copy if someone wants to borrow it.

Life Imitating David Cross

This story about a man accused of faking retardation. Reminds me of the episode of "Just Shoot Me" wherein David Cross plays Slow Donnie who is faking his retardation.

To quote a X-Ecutioners sample from Roxanne Shante "We came here tonight to get started to cold act ill and get retarded"

Longest Held Online Account

It dawned on me today that online account I've held the longest is my AOL IM account which I first signed up for when I got my first "real job" in January or 1998.*

What's your longest held online account?

*Just realized that my alumnus mail account from The University of Wisconsin is still active but I never use it, so it doesn't really acount.

When I'm at home I have my MacBook Pro hooked up to an external monitor. I just took a screen shot and got annoyed b/c I thought hit the capture keys twice, turns out that it takes pictures of each screen.

While I'm at it, I'll also gush over fact that Parllels can mix and match Window's apps right next to eacher.
