Churches Should Shut Up or Put Up

In other action, the council approved an emergency bill that allows exceptions for businesses that are within 400 feet of a school, college or District-operated recreation area applying for liquor licenses. D.C. law prohibits such proximity, but the bill will allow exceptions for businesses in commercial areas.

What the fuck 400 feet? I could maybe, maybe see the justification of a not having a bar near a school, though that shouldn't be an issue as bars should not be serving students and bars usually don't have peak hours during school hours, but a church fuck that, as one of the comments points out when churches start paying taxes then they may have a say in how the government is run, but until then shut up.

And while I'm ranting I would really like to see strict parking enforcement on Sundays around churches. I am guaranteed to see several illegally parked cars around the churches in my neighborhood. It would like to the rules enforced with the same vigor as they are during stadium events. Ideally they'd enforce the same rules on Sunday mornings as they do for stadium events where as only people zoned for that area can park there. Then maybe I could find a place to park on Sunday after running some errands.
