American Family Ass

Yep its time for another American Family Ass post.
Today's American Family Ass. "Action Alert" is alerting me to the fact that "The Da Vinci Code" movie "makes several false claims" um, well Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman of the American Family Ass. The novel, of the same name, on which the movie is based, you see, is a thing called fiction. Fiction for those who are not in the know is defined as "literature in the form of prose, esp. short stories and novels, that describes imaginary events and people." So the book doesn't make any claims, it is simply a story. Now I know, I know, you take your stories very seriously and I can see how you are confused, because you really like to think that your favorite piece of fiction "The Bible" is also not just a story. So you are pointing people to the movie "The Da Vinci Delusion" which refutes the "facts" presented in the "The Da Vinci Code"

For those of us who are critical thinkers, let me break this down for you, for the sake of argument say you are huge Batman fan, you have read every comic and think Batman is the greatest superhero, And along comes someone who writes a new comic that makes Batman look like an asshole. I could see how you could be annoyed with the situation, maybe even make a blog post that refutes the points made in the comic book. But at the same time you would realize that while you are Batman fan, you are still dealing with fantasy world and that there are no real facts only pretend.

If only I could get Donald E Wildmon to see that, he too is playing in the world of make believe.
