What the Fuck Is Wrong with Kansas

Over the last few days anything disturbing or annoying has evolved (ha! I kill me) from Kansas

1) When trying go get to the Kansas state site I did what works for damn near every other state I went to http://ks.gov Which yields a 403 Forbidden error, which kind of makes sense as learning in Kansas is just about forbidden.

2) This addict (don't forget our president is also an addict) from Kansas has his removed club foot in his home and plans to give his toes to friends, now if only Ezekiel Rubottom, meets up with Turd Blossom, he could be the next addict president.

3) Kansas City Star pulls Doonesbury because Trudeau calls Carl Rove a "Turd Blossom" what's next replacing science in textbooks with mythology?

4) Oh, wait they are trying to replace science with mythology evolution and and relativityhere is a quote. " Albert Einstein, a German-born physicist who later immigrated to America, was searching for an explanation of how the universe worked. But rather than reaching for the obvious answer—that God created the universe, the earth, the sun, moon and stars, plants and animals, and the first two people, within six ordinary days, Professor Einstein spun a wildly different account."

5) Next a form ofunusual punishment that takes the jobs away from the hard working vomit cleaners of America

6) Lastly let us not forget this church going Kansan whose divorce is ruining the institute of marriage, even more than same-sex marriages.

De La Soul is NOT Dead

De La Soul is NOT Dead
Originally uploaded by dcdan.
I went to see De La Soul tonight and the show sweet fucking rocked. De La Soul was dead on from the crowd warm up where Mase, rocked Wu-Tang, Red Man and Mobb Deep. To starting with music from the Grind Date to playing Stakes is High to every De La Song you'd want to hear. They then went into their first surprise Dres from Black Sheep, who also got the crowd lit up (Engine, engine number nine... You can get with this or you can get with that... You're the flavor of the month) Then the second surprise Jarobi from a A Tribe Called Quest and Phife! Yes Phife sweeting fucking Dawg! To those who didn't grow up in the golden of age hip hop, this would be like going to see the Rolling Stones today and the special guests being Robert Plant and Paul McCartney and Ringo. De La came on around 11ish and didn't leave until 1:15, the encore was perfect as 70% of the fully packed 9:30 club cleared out and it was intimate for songs like the De La classic "Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)" There was even a point when they kept on going over and over with "Rock Co.Kane Flow" and I was almost sure MF Doom was going to appear. In fact Pos said he wished he could pull MF Doom out of his pocket. There was also the messages that were shared that show De La as true hip-hop artists, from the talk of Trugoy about no buying the bull shit music that is killing hip-hop to, pointing out that they have known each other and remained friend for twenty years, to the message that hip-hop transcends race, class and sex, when Trugoy invited ladies up on stage to dance to "Baby Phat" and explained to the guys in the crowd that there are many women fans of the hip-hop culture also. Also big up to my friend Damien who made it on stage during the encore. De La Soul is fucking incredible.

Doesn't Match WMD Status

Addict Bush vows to fire anyone who committed crime in CIA leak A few things about this story, first it means that the administration must have discovered a loophole for Rove. The second is this quote from the addict and president "We have a serious ongoing investigation here, and it's being played out in the press. I think it's best if people wait until the investigation is complete before you jump to conclusions. I don't know all the facts. ... " My question is why should people wait for the investigation to finish for this case when the lives of only a few will be inconvenienced, yet when determining that the country should go to war, putting many lives in danger, invading another country, pissing the world in general and racking up massive debt we should jump to conclusions?

Textdrive, which based on the suggestion of a former co-worker, not sure if he want's the link and the mention, not everyone wants to be associated with DC Dan ;-) Anyway Textdrive is my current hosting company and while they aren't for uninitiated you don't have to be a unix wizard to use them, one of the more useful features that I have seen them start doing more is making movies of how to setup up things. Watching on one of the videos was how I had the confidence that my transition to self hosting rather than relying on Blogger hosting would be clean and easy. I just watched the video on how to setup Subversion repositories with Textdrive and think watching someone walk through the steps in a movie is a great way to figure out how to set things up.

Where The US is Sadly Heading

Three antihuman religions have evolved -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam. These are sky-god religions. They are, literally, patriarchal -- God is the omnipotent father -- hence the loathing of women for 2,000 years in those countries afflicted by the skygod and his earthly male delegates. The sky-god is a jealous god, of course. He requires total obedience from everyone on earth, as he is in place not just for one tribe but for all creation. Those who would reject him must be converted or killed for their own good. Ultimately, totalitarianism is the only sort of politics that can truly serve the sky-god's purpose. Any movement of a liberal nature endangers his authority and that of his delegates on earth. One God, one King, one Pope, one master in the factory, one father-leader in the family at home.

New Phone on Its Way!

I just ordered a new phone! A K750i I'm hoping I'll be happy again with the Sony Ericsson interface, I had a T610 in the past but the reception was pretty crappy, the reviews seem to say that it has improved, plus it has a 2MP camera and the pictures looked pretty decent and decent MP3 player which will be nice my new commute. I'll post a review once I get it in my hands and have used it for a while.

Did They Find the Ring?

This story about the man who was hiding in the chamber of an outhouse toilet. The smoking gun has a picture. Anyway he claims that he lost a ring and that's why he was down there, only question is did anyone ever find his ring?

Fuck the Toll Road

JC LOV U
Originally uploaded by dcdan.
The only annoying thing about my new job is that while the client site is downtown and a short walk and Metro ride away, my office, where I was today is all the way out in MF'ing Reston (though actually Herndon but they are really the same thing.) This means that the fastest way for me to get there is via the Dulles Toll Road. Not only was the road named after a sketchy CIA director, it is pretty much filled with people who live only to annoy me. On the way out, I watched as the person in front of me would throw one quarter at a time into the basket wait fifteen seconds for it to be counted and then throw another until the requisite 75 cents were accepted, the only saving grace is that the douche bag didn't have nickels. I waited around and stayed late to avoid traffic on the way home only to be confronted by yet another toll road idiot, this guy apparently forgot where he was going today and hence had NO FUCKING CA$H WHEN HE GOT ON THE TOLL ROAD. To make matters worse apparently the toll commission decided that to discourage this behavior the process to make up for it involves filling out papers writing down license plates and trying to prove the Riemann hypothesis only after this is all completed you can pass through, which seems like a fair penalty for some one who gets on a toll road with out any money, unfortunately it also punishes yours truly as I had to sit behind this fucker.
Therefore here is DC Dan's advice for people who drive the toll road.

  • Throw all those coins in at once, the machines can handle it

  • Remember to bring cash

  • In the exact change lane, the "exact" pulls double duty, you have the exact amount AND you know exactly where that change is, meaning I'd better not see you looking in the back seat for it

  • No matter what time of the day , taking 495 to the George Washington Speedway will ALWAYS be faster than taking the perpetually jammed Route 66.

Moved Some Stuff Around

Because my hosting company (TextDrive) includes sweet ass features like Urchin Stats, I changed the way that my blog is hosted. I'm not sure if this means that http://dcdan.blogspot.com/ will go away or not, but the new official URL for my blog is http://blog.dcdan.com/

W, I am your father

I hope when they cast the film "All the Presidents Men Episode III:Revenge of the Bush" that they use the cast from "That's My Bush" They will hopefully also release the prequel "All the Presidents Men Episode II:Attack of the Neo-Cons" for the Reagan/Bush years and a reissue of "All the Presidents Men Episode I:The Deep Throat Menace" to cover the whole series of why we shouldn't elect (and I use that term loosely) GOP presidents.

The 9th Wonder is the shit, I've been listening to Little Brother of which 9th Wonder is a member, non-stop since I grabbed it from iTunes. After I heard the "Crouching Writer" remix and the more I've looked into this guy the more I've been impressed, in fact just looking for more info on him I found a lot of tracks and remixes that's he's done that are dope. "Murs 3:16 The Ninth Wonder Remix" De La Soul's "Stakes is High Track" a Jay-Z track and a shit load more. Here is a list of tracks

30th Year Advice

Originally uploaded by dogseat.
Hopefully this will be the first in a series, of teaching the truth to the youth. but I'm going to use 30th Year Advice posts to give advice to those who haven't lived as long as I have. The first is that when playing online cribbage, please don't spend the entire time "flirting" with someone whose Yahoo! name contains "blonde_cutie" if you can't keep up with the game while flirting, also PEOPLE WHO JOIN THE ROOM AND ASK TO BE ADDED TO YOUR BUDDY LIST AND CAN"T FIND THEIR CAPS LOCK KEY shouldn't get anywhere with "flirting" The reason "flirting" is in quotes is because flirting should consist of more than "Your picture in your profile looks hot do you have more?"

Now if you actually do eventually learn to talk your way into my cribbage partner's panties (assuming that it is even a twenty year hot girl and not a 72 year old lady who is trying to set up her grand daughter, or worse a 80 year old man naked in in front of his computer getting off on you flirting with what really is the 20 year old girl who lives next door) Okay that was a bit dark but I think you get the picture.
But I want to close this post on an up note. So I will give you young men a piece of advice, if you manage to actually learn to talk to women, and you get to the point where your online flirting leads to emails, if she uses ellipsis she wants you.
Oh yeah, finally despite your futile attempts to hit on my cribbage partner
, she and I won :-p

Quit My Job Blowing Leaves

Herndon Office Setup
Originally uploaded by dcdan.
I started a new job this week and so far so good the Metro ride only takes about twenty minutes and so far everything seems cool. Plus I'll get use my PowerBook to do all of my work, which mean no more lugging around a heavy ass Dell (or worse yet both laptops) It also means that I should be able to keep my computer files a bit more organized.
Two tools I've been using at my new j-o-b which have impressed me are Eclipse and Citrix. I've used Eclipse before and I've been pretty impressed with how well every just works and that it makes a lot of smart choices for me and knows that if you make a change in one place where you'll have to make other updates.
Citrix is sweet fucking kick ass, the Java client works pretty well but it wouldn't let me share my hard drive, with the server but if I go the web access site with Firefox it launches the native Mac OS X client which works as expected. My home dir shows up as the C: drive and the speed and performance is great, I don't think I'd use it to play games, but for using Outlook and browsing with IE, it works great.

There are some good shows coming at the 9:30 this summer. The Digable Planets with J-Live is tonight, De La Soul is coming on the 19th and Hieroglyphics (feauring Del the Funkee Homosapien, Souls of Mischief, Casual & Pep Love) will be playing on August 19th. 2 Skinnee J's are playing on the 23rd as well, though I'm not sure if I want to go that one. Any one interested in going to the shows should leave a comment or shoot me an email.
