Since moving to DC in '98 , I'm accustom to that when people on the street talk to me I'm predisposed to say "I don't have any change" but when here, I need to check myself and reply "How you doin'?"

Once You Go Mac OS X, You Never Go Back.

After spending the early evening fighting with my old linux server and running into more FSCK pain then I am willing to endure, I ran to the store and bought two Adaptec external drives enclosures, took the 250GB and the 200GB out of my server put them into the cases hooked up the 250GB right next to my other 250GB external drive formated with 3 clicks and started rsync which is what was used to sync up with the old linux box the difference now it that I don't have network latency to deal with. The other 200GB drive is being used to as a backup extra storage for my laptop and to backup the main drive of my eMac. Plus with out the old box running, my home office is a lot quieter.

Currenty Watching...

I'm currently watching "The Girl Next Door" and it is really predictable really cheesy, there is no plot twist you can't see coming 100 miles away, and it is the movie that is going to is get, my friends Cliff's recommendations removed from my Netflix list.

aah shit
To make the whole thing worse, you can always tell everyone is wearing lipstick, they do the stupid "imagined scene thing." Cliff you are now suspect as shit as I'm watching the Christina Applegate wanna be and the main character are getting it on with annoying ass David Gray playing in the background. Plus it makes the high school experience, look well not at all what high school was like. But alas in the spirit of the film what I remember most about high was finishing and getting the fuck out of there.

Quicktime Annoyance

I could maybe see this if I hadn't shelled out the money for Quicktime Pro twice (once for 6.x and once for 7.x) but I don't think I should be subjected to ads if Quicktime can't figure out how to open my file and while I'm at it I wish iTunes was smart enough to mute itself when Quicktime (at the very least) or VLC was running.

WebDAV Frustrations

Over the last year or so I've outsourced my mail and web hosting, I used to do it all myself, there were a few things that got annoying enough for me cease doing it myself, the first was when the server (which did both mail and web) was rebooted because of a kernel upgrade and didn't want to find one of hard drives (/home) which made for a miserable day. I finally out sourced my mail hosting to Speakeasy, who is also my ISP, but I was hosting for a few domains so and it was getting kind of expensive for what I got 5 email address (per domain) and something like 15MB and weak web interface. On the web front I kept my own server running for the web side of things, but that also started to get annoying as, my Tomcat/Apache/JRoller/MySQL setup would require being bounced every week or so and since my office blocks SSH, doing it via my phone was less than ideal, plus the half a day or so for updating Gentoo proved to be a pain in the ass. So I switched to Blogger and just had the Apache server running to redirect shit to a few of the links that a lot of people seemed to be looking for. One of my coworkers started using Text Drive and I looked it over and decided to go with the 10 domain package which has been working out pretty well, except for the fact that I started using Tiger 10.4 for dcdan.com (and my friend's domain thos art) I figured that enabling WebDAV would a be a cool idea, because site updates would be easy and simple, except for the fact the WebDAV in 10.4 is FUCKING BROKEN and hangs Finder and generally makes my life miserable as for using SFTP or something else for update, since the directories aren't owned my users I can't do shit. So if anyone has any workarounds I've tried Goliath which doesn't seem to authenticate right and DAVExplorer whose interface could use some work.

Yeah Kraft!

About a month ago I got an email from the American Family Ass. talking about how Kraft, was supporting the Gay Games in Chicago this year and how it "outraged" James Dobson, who encouraged his followers to write Kraft expressing dismay, which of course prompted me to contact Kraft to let them know that I was happy to see them making an effort to support diversity. This week Kraft put out a statement saying they were proud to support the event. To express their dismay (and I'm linking to this one) the American Family Ass. sent me this link which gave me a good laugh, this is one of few times pictures of bare assed men made it into my inbox, past my spam filter and it was all thanks to the American Family Ass. Heh, gay porn from James Dobson. The images came from Chris Geary's site. That is sweet fucking amazing half naked gay images from James Dobson.
