Over the last year or so I've outsourced my mail and web hosting, I used to do it all myself, there were a few things that got annoying enough for me cease doing it myself, the first was when the server (which did both mail and web) was rebooted because of a kernel upgrade and didn't want to find one of hard drives (/home) which made for a miserable day. I finally out sourced my mail hosting to Speakeasy, who is also my ISP, but I was hosting for a few domains so and it was getting kind of expensive for what I got 5 email address (per domain) and something like 15MB and weak web interface. On the web front I kept my own server running for the web side of things, but that also started to get annoying as, my Tomcat/Apache/JRoller/MySQL setup would require being bounced every week or so and since my office blocks SSH, doing it via my phone was less than ideal, plus the half a day or so for updating Gentoo proved to be a pain in the ass. So I switched to Blogger and just had the Apache server running to redirect shit to a few of the links that a lot of people seemed to be looking for. One of my coworkers started using
Text Drive and I looked it over and decided to go with the 10 domain package which has been working out pretty well, except for the fact that I started using Tiger 10.4 for dcdan.com (and my friend's domain
thos art) I figured that enabling WebDAV would a be a cool idea, because site updates would be easy and simple, except for the fact the WebDAV in 10.4 is
FUCKING BROKEN and hangs Finder and generally makes my life miserable as for using SFTP or something else for update, since the directories aren't owned my users I can't do shit. So if anyone has any workarounds I've tried Goliath which doesn't seem to authenticate right and DAVExplorer whose interface could use some work.
