Ruby on Rails (and "teh suck")

I've decided to bring Daddy's Not Home back from the dead and figured it would be a good to play around with Ruby on Rails because all of the cool kids are doing it. I was walking through an example and ran into the following problem
"No database selected:"
Apparently this has plagued an assload of people, but now on really seemed to have the answer, until I got to these two sites
